« The traces I collect and produce are alive. Their form and meaning emerge, transform and shift at the threshold between what I can grasp, what I can imagine and what eludes me. »

[ENG] Delphine Bereski (born 1991) is a Franco-Polish visual and performance artist. She lives and works in Montreuil. She lives and works in Montreuil. Trained in dance and later in visual arts in Paris and Warsaw, her practice is shaped by the gaps in a family history marked by migration from Eastern Europe.
Between archaeology and imagination, she is drawn to what endures and what is lost over time, and to the spaces opened up by absence. Drawing on archives, narratives, and traces left by societies and individuals, she explores the mechanisms through which memory is transmitted and constructed. Her research draws on folklore, languages, myths, rituals, and popular practices, examining how they become sedimented in our collective imagination. She works through processes of collecting, assembling, and transposing across drawing, photography, printmaking, objects, performance, and film. In a trail of clues between intuition and intention, fiction becomes a tool for filling in the gaps, shifting narratives, and bringing new forms and interpretations to light.
From 2017 to 2019, she lived and worked in Warsaw where her collaborations as a performer and creator of puppets and stage objects, notably at the Ujazdowski Castle CCA, initiate her research into the relationships between images, objects and bodies in motion. She undertook a residency at the Cité internationale des arts in Paris in 2019–2020 and presents in 2020, her first solo exhibition at Pola Magnetyczne gallery in Warsaw. Since then, her work has been presented in Poland, France and Greece.
Alongside her own practice, she continues to collaborate with other artists and shares her practice through workshops and teaching in higher arts education.
